This app challenges you to know your notes, especially on the piano. The Choose Notes option test your ability to quickly identify any not on the musical staff. The Flash Keys test you ablity to recognize a note based upon the key on the piano. The Intervals test your knowledge of what note should be the next higher interval, using 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th intervals.
Please note the iPhone version only works in landscape mode due to the limited space available. Please do not report any bug describing that the iPhone wont go into Portrait mode; this is by design.
Each challenge will show the challenge and allow you to pick a note by tapping the letter button. If the timer is enabled, the time you are taking and the elapsed time to answer are shown on the screen.
Scores are kept for each challenge separately. Scores may be saved or reset to start over at any time. The current score card may be viewed by using the S icon at the top of the main page.
There are options to control various aspects of the Flash Cards. The settings icon (the little gear at the top) is used to change any of these settings. The options control:
Sounds: You may set the sound on or off. There are sounds for success/failure as well as ticking clock as a timer.
Level: The 3 different levels control how quickly the Interval tests proceed. The first level moves through the intervals 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in an orderly manner after 10 notes at each level. Level 2 changes so that the change is more rapid and will change after 5 notes. Level 3 randomly chooses the level and the notes. At each level, the pattern will repeat.
Allowed time to Answer: The countdown timer may be turned off or if on, will challenge you to answer the Flash within the specified time. If an answer is not given before the time expires, the answer will be considered incorrect. A slider is provided to change the time allowed from 5 seconds to a maximum of 15 seconds.
Save Score: If this option is enabled, then the scores will be kept between invocations of the Flash Card app.
Which Notes: You may choose to concentrate only on either treble clef or bass clef if desired.
